Flutter

Just a quick post to share my Butterfly Crafts challenges for this month One of them you've seen already but this other one I did at the weekend. The challenge was to use at least one item on a list of 10. I managed to use 6 orange, turquoise, polka dots, scalloped edge, pins and bling!

I was quite pleased that I made my own journaling spot as I didn't have one that matched the layout. I just cut a nice shape from paper as a template and then cut it from journaling paper and inked the edges, easy!!
This other layout was from the Butterfly Crafts sketch.
Well who would of thought that the day after tomorrow is April fools day, which just happens to be someones Birthday! No I'm not fooling you it really is!! Don't know what I'm doing in the day yet, the weather doesn't sound very nice! But I'm going out for a meal with family in the evening which will be nice.
I am hoping the new October Afternoon papers should be here any day now, I hoping it will be as that would be a perfect Birthday pressie for me! How exciting I can't wait, I love October Afternoon!

Anyway better go.

Thanks for looking! xx

Metamorphosis

My next challenge went up on The Studio last night, The challenge was Metamorphosis – scrap a life-changing event that’s affected you. How has it changed you as a person?
This was quite difficult a challenge for me because I don't think I've had that many life changing moments! I could have picked the obvious one become ill but I thought that would be too depressing! So in the end I went with crafting how it's really helped me get through being ill, how it's helped me make lots of online friends, how I've managed to make some money from it, how I've made on own blog and got on a design team, all small things but they have really helped me, I don't know what I do without my crafting! Quite a different layout for me, it hasn't turned out how I imagined it would but I decided it needed lots of journaling on it so I had to work around that really! I used some bits from Cosmo's Material girl. I had great fun sewing and beading on it!

I've been really ill this last week with a nasty bug so I haven't done much but while I was sat on the sofa one evening I made some ribbon flowers which I was pleased with so I used one on this layout!

I feeling a lot better now and I did manage to do a bit of scrapping over the weekend so I will be back soon with that. Hope you had a good weekend. xx

Hopping Mad!

Hello to all the blog hoppers and welcome to my blog! Here's another stop in Rebekah's blog hop! I hope your enjoying all the other layouts techniques and prizes!
I have a little tutorial for you, how to make some pleated rosettes. I got this idea from the Next window display they have in their stores, take a look next time your passing Next!! It's quick and easy and it's good for using up some of the many strips of patterned paper you have laying around but they also looks great! Here's what we're making, the finished rosettes! So here goes my first tutorial!
Take a strip of patterned paper you can play around with different widths and lenghts but for this large one I used a strip of about 5cm x 22cm. At one end fold over about 1cm and continue folding back and forward like a fan you used to make at school!
Once you have pleated the whole strip like this, glue the two ends together.

You should end up with a circle of pleated paper like this. Now push down the top edges of the circle into the middle.

And you should end up with your rosette. Do be careful as they are quite springy and will spring back up if you let it!
Pick a nice button to go onto the centre of the rosette and do a bit of what I called cheat sewing! Sew through the holes in the button so it looks like it been sew on! Now add some strong double sided sticky tape like this.

And here's your finished rosette. I then inked the edges but I suppose it would be slightly easy if you did it before you started pleating!
I have made a layout with them on here, I think they add something different to a layout and look great!
There's lots of possibilities with these to can layer them one smaller than the other. Here I made a little flower so the papers fold upwards like this.

I also made another layout using a large rosette cut in half! I used the Butterfly craft sketch for this one.

It's great having a play around with them using different size strips of paper and different patterns of patterned paper. Let me know what you think of them, I love getting comments! And If you like them and have a go at them please put a link to your projects in your comments, I would love to see them!

I better leave you now, you have other blogs to discover! The next blog you go to is Elina's.
Thanks for stopping by!

Sneaky

As promised I'm back to show you what I've been up to lately. Firstly here's the card I made my mum for mothers day. It's a bit different for me as I used a felt 'mum' sticker I got free with a magazine last year!! I do love that lace I found in my local craft shop, it was a good price too!

I have been asked by a friend of a friend if they could see my jewellery as she as had some before. So I've been busy cleaning it all, making new and rearranging it on the boards. I won't bore you with all the photo's, I'll just show you these earrings that I made as I really like them and I might have to make a pair for myself! This photo really doesn't do them justice, they have sparkly crystals on them and everything!
This week I've been busy getting all my stuff ready for Rebekah's blog hop that starts tomorrow at 7pm, make sure you check it out there are loads of great things for you to see and prices to be won. I leave you with a sneak peek of a bit of what I'm doing for it! There are more sneak peeks on her blog too.

Hope to see you there! I'm near the end of the blog hop so I will see you Sunday afternoon! xx

Sticky

My next challenge for The Studio has just gone up. This week’s challenge should get you digging through your stash mountain! Use up those stickers – how many can you use on one page? Time to dig them all out and find out!
This was a difficult challenge for me as I don't scrap with stickers! I didn't even own any proper stickers before this challenge!! I've wanted to scrap this photo of my nephew in his new car for a while now and I thought the October Afternoon- Road Map papers and stickers would be perfect for it. I'm pleased with the finished layout and I did enjoy using the stickers so I will be buying more stickers from now on!!

I haven't have a really good week this week, I've had low energy levels so I haven't been doing too much. But I will be back in the week with a few bits and pieces that I have been doing!

I hope you've all had a lovely Mother's day if you're a mother or not! We had my Nan and auntie around for Sunday lunch today which was nice. I made my mum some Coffee cupcakes as they are her favourite! She loved them and so did my Nan and auntie too!! xx

Sunny days

These past few days have been gorgeous weather here so it got me thinking it will soon be ice cream time, yay! I remembered I have a photo of the first ice cream of the year last year so I decided to scrap it! I used the Sarah's cards sketch for it. I used more October Afternoon papers as I love the sunny colours. I even made my own little ice cream with felt and bits of ribbon!!
I tried out some new techniques on this layout that I haven't tried before, distressing the edge of the paper, machine sewing (I had my machine out for something else!) and patterned paper around the edge of the whole layout. I'm really pleased with how it turned out.
In other news I have been asked to be part of this;Rebekah kindly asked me if my blog could be one of the 33 blogs that are in her Birthday blog hop on 19th/20th March The bash will start at 7pm on Friday night on her blog. There are LOs, projects, challenges and prizes that include one of Shimelle's classes, an Indigo Mill gift voucher and lots of stash, not to mention a digi freebie. I've never done a blog hop before so I'm quite excited to see what it's like and it should be good fun, hope you can join in with us too!
I had a great afternoon with my nephew, Rowan yesterday. We took him to Chew Valley lake and had a little walk feed the ducks and Rowan had a swing. He was really good and happy! I took my camera and had a play about so I've got some nice photos to scrap!
Anyway best go, back soon! xx
