The Studio Olympic Blog Hop

Welcome to the next stop of  The Studio Olympic Special Blog Hop! You should of made it here from the very talented Valerie's blog but if not or you want to start from the beginning you need to go back to The Studio here!
The design team have all taken different inspiration from the Olympics. I picked the Olympic Stadium for my inspiration, I liked the shapes in it so I copied the shapes and recreated them on my layout!
Sorry for the poor photo this is one layout that doesn't want to photograph well!

I filled in some of the shapes with patterned paper to brighten it up a bit. I was lucky enough to visit the Olympic site in London two years ago when they were building it, these photos are what the stadium looked like then , it's amazing how much they had done with two years to go! What an opening ceremony it there was from it on Friday, amazing!

I have a little prize for you too! I have a little embellishment kit from my shop The Make and Create Shop up for grabs just comment of this post for a chance to win before it closes on Friday 3rd August.
Here's the kit:
It's in lovely colours, bright pink, yellow and teal!

The next stop on this blog hop is the lovely Jules' Blog
Happy Hopping!

Wedding Gifts

On Saturday I went to my cousins wedding! It was a beautiful service and the whole day went really well and was lovely! Luckily the weather was amazing, I even got sunburn!! The service was by the river outside and we were all sat on hay bales with butterflies fluttering past!! I'm sure you will be seeing lots of the wedding photos in coming layouts so today I thought I would show you all the gifts I made for them!

First up a personalised guest book, this is the box for the book. For the word I used the trusted method of, printing out the words wedding guests and scribble pencil over the back and then traced over the top of a light pencil mark for the letters came out! Then I went over it with my gold pen, really pleased with how it turned out!
This is the front cover of the book:
Bit of a close up! I made the swirls with dots with more gold pen!
Inside the guest book, a bit of heart confetti! If your wondering what the fish are about it's because they are wild swimmers!
I also made a lovely heart garland for them which I forgot the photograph, I cut out hearts in the same papers I used and ran it through the sewing machine and then tied little bits of gold ribbon in between the hearts, I loved it!! They put it on their table plan!
The card I made for them, a lacy wedding cake! I did make another card for my sister to give them but again I forgot to photograph it!
This is the heart I made with the date and their initials on!
I also helped make the wedding cake and made little cupcakes for them that I will probably show you in another post! So didn't they do well from me?!!

Hope you're enjoying the sunshine at last!

Breathing Fire

We had another lovely sketch that Valerie made for us over at The Studio this week.
I kept quite close to the sketch, the only real difference is I swapped the circle with my new Crafty Workshop template!
I had to document this funny little question my nephew said when we went to his new school's fete a couple of weeks ago. They had lots of animals there and when we saw the bearded dragon he asked 'does it breathe fire? You have got to love the things children come out with!
We have a gift certificate from Elle's Studio for a prize for this month challenges at The Studio so go and check it out and get your entry in!!

I had a very busy weekend helping to decorate a wedding cake for my cousins wedding which is next weekend, it's a cake like no other it will be amazing! I will make sure I take some good photos of it!
Back Soon! xx

Paint Tidy

Hi, thought I would pop in and show you a little crafty project that I've just finished! I've been looking for a letter tidy for ages as I already have one and they are great for keeping my paints in but I had ran out of space in the one I had! I couldn't find one anywhere, don't think many people make them any more, not that I know of anyway! I happened to be at a craft show, as you do(!!) and found a great stall that sold MDF shapes and things and I spotted this letter tidy, it was a good price and there was only one so I had to snap it up! It came just plain MDF and it looked a bit boring so I decided to jazz it up! I gave the edges a few coats of paint and then used some old papers that I still liked but hadn't used to stick on it.

It did turn out a bit greener than I imagined but I can live with that!
It's great to have all my mists and paints all tidy in it!
This is the back with a different paper on, it feels good to use up some of those papers that lurk in the bottom of a box!
It was a great little project to do while watching the tennis last week!
Hope you like it!

Soft Colours

Last  Sunday's challenge at The Studio is a colour challenge, it was lovely soft pallet with black. Not colour I usually go for so it was a challenge I decided to use black paint for the background, I've seen quite a few pages with black paint that looked great so I've wanted to try it for a while!! Here how it came out!
I also used the black paint around the edges of the flower which works quite well!
I used a photo from when we went to a beach in Devon we found this mini Stone Henge made with pebbles it looked great!

I'm doing a summer fayre on Saturday so I'm busy getting ready for that!
Back soon with more! xx
