Little Star

Last week over at The Studio we had the challenge to use stars in your layout. You may of noticed from following this blog that I use stars quite a lot as they are my favourite shape, so this was easy!!
I could this very cute photo of my nephew a few weeks ago and had to scrap it. He is a little star as he's always so happy!

I went for a bit of a mixed media background with red paint, stamps and doodling.
I'm quite pleased with how it turned out.
This month at The Studio we are sponsored by Fabscraps so if you join in with us you could win a great prize from them.

Thanks for looking! Back soon! xx

Christmas journal 2013

As its now December it means one thing and thats its Christmas journal time! I'm a bit late posting this! Here are some of my foundation pages of my Christmas journal 2013. This will be my fifth year, can't believe I've done it for so long.
I've gone for more of an art journal feel this year and I've been enjoying creating them, getting messy!
I've used lots of paint, stamps and paper bits! I've also done some good old fashioned drawing and painting!
Sorry about the poor photos!

These pages are slowing getting filled so I'll be back with some of those soon!

Thanks for looking xx

TicTacToe

Over at The Studio today we have a tic tac toe challenge for you!
The design team each picked one thing to go in the grid. Pop over to The Studio to see the grid and all the other DT creations, all the layouts are so different, so much inspiration!
I went for the middle line of the gird which was twine, buttons and triangles so I thought bunting was a must with triangles and twine and I love buttons so they are easy! I raised the bunting and the heart up to make them stand out.

The photo is of one of my two lovely nephews that was born in the spring. This is the title page of his scrapbook album, there will be many more baby boy layouts to come with two albums in the making! I feel a bit overwhelmed with the amount of photos I have to scrap of them both already!!!

Hope you're having a good weekend.
Back soon xx

Best Basket

Yesterdays challenge at The Studio was a Pinterest challenge. I found a lovely pin to inspire everyone. To see it pop over to The Studio! It was amazing how different all the DT layouts are by getting inspiration from the same photo!
I was inspired by lots of things from the photo, the colours, sequins, gold swirls and the feathers. Heres my layout;
I started by using purple watercolour for my background and then spraying shimmer mist over it in places, I created gold swirls from gems, made my own feathers from paper and dotted sequins about!

The photo is of my best hanging basket from this year as it had my favourite colours in it and it looks good too!
Our sponsor at The Studio this month is Teresa Collins Stampmaker,
One lucky winner will get one set of stamps (size A6) of their own design. You could make one single size A6 stamp or several smaller that fits in that size.

The Studio is oPinteres now too you can see all the DT layouts and sketches there!

Thanks for stopping by.

Going Green

I don't know where the time has gone, can't seem to blog at the moment! Anyway thought I'd better update you with The Studio Challenges, two to catch up on!
I'll start with the most recent on, 13th October was to create a Monochromatic layout, we the DT, all tried to pick different colours, to show how each colour worked, I went with green! I really enjoyed making this one, I liked to fact I just had to pick out green papers and embellishments and couldn't get tempted by all the other colours!!! The greens worked perfectly with this photo I took on holiday in Spain of a lovely view.
This month's sponsor at The Studio Challenges is Teresa Collins Stampmaker.
Manufactured by Photocentrics whom also manufactures clear stamps.

The Stampmaker is the perfect tool if you like to design your own stamps.

One lucky winner will get one set of stamps (size A6) of their own design. You could make one single size A6 stamp or several smaller that fits in that size.

The Stampmaker tool is available all over the world. You can find it at Hobby Craft.
You can also order your own clear stamps at Photocentrics.

So its worth going to look at all the DT's takes on this challenge as theres extra inspiration with the new DT members and also joining in with the challenge so you could be in with a chance of winning this prize! I hope the see your enteries!

The next one that I didn't show you was 29th September we had to create a grid layout. This one also happens to be green!
I find grids are great for layouts with lots of photos so I used photos from a day out as I had quite a few nice shots to use, other than that I kept it quite simple. It has got a white border around too it but it doesn't show up on here!
I made my own journaling spot and fabric embellishment for it!
That's those caught up on, hopefully I'll be back with this Sunday's challenge a bit sooner!

Superhero Cakes

Not one but two superhero cakes that I've made recently! The first one was for my nephew's 5th Birthday in August was an Avengers cake. He told me which characters he wanted on it!
The second one I made yesterday for my nephew little friend's 4th Birthday, he wanted Spiderman and Batman cake so that's what I did for him!
Both were a lot of hard work just to be eaten!! I do love making them though and it was great to see my nephews face, he loved his!

Wings

I know you really expecting to see my nephews cake but as usual of late I haven't got around to it as I'm really busy with work at the moment but I will upload it soon!
Anyway why I'm here today, it was time for another challenge as The Studio yesterday! This time we had a word to inspire us, the word was Wings. I went with the most beautiful wings there is a butterfly's!
I love this photo I took of a Peacock butterfly in the garden a couple of weeks ago. I let the photo do most of the talking! A give it a black ground back so it would really stand out.
The title Peacock is also a bird, you see what I did there??!!
We are holding a DT call at The Studio at the moment, we are looking for more talented designer to add to the team. If you are interested see here, I would love to see you enter, you have until Sunday!
Thanks for looking.

Glittery Gromit

You can now follow me on Bloglovin too!
Today there's a new challenge up at The Studio and it's all about using glitter on your layout.
A couple of weeks ago we took my nephew looking for the painted Gromit statues around Bristol and we found this lovely glittery one with mosaic tiles on so I thought it was prefect for this challenge! I went with the gold to match Gromit. I found some glitter stickers, thread, sequin waste glitter glue, gems and sequins and had a lovely glittery time!
I used shimmer mist for my background too so everything on this layout shines!! Unfortunately I didn't have any glittery gold Thickers so I just had to use shiny gold ones instead!
If you join in with us at The Studio this month you can be in with a chance of becoming our guest designer. We will also be having a design team call next week ;0)
It's been a busy week with my nephews birthday, I made him an Avengers cake and went to Longleat Safari park with him for the day. I'll be back with the cake photos soon!!
Thanks for looking! xx

Multiple photos

It all went a bit quiet in here, don't know why really, life just got in the way! Lots of things have been going on, including going to Wembley to see Robbie (my mum won tickets, amazing!) My baby nephews keeping my busy, being ill and being on holiday (just got back from Spain, lovely but a bit too hot!)
Anyway lots to catch up on and lots to show you so I get some posts lined up!

On to today as there is a new challenge up at The Studio. By the way I now run The Studio so that's another thing that's keeping me busy! Today's challenge was to use 3 or more photos on your layout. I love using more that one photo on my layouts, I use 1, 2 or 3 photos easily so I thought I would try more this time! Sometimes I find you can't tell enough of the story with 1 photo. I used a gird of 6 photos this time, from a day trip to Devon as I had lots of lovely photos to choose from!
I used some blue watercolour for the background to look like the sea, doesn't show up very well in photos! I then clustered some embellishments, stamps, mist, buttons and gems etc, I really love clustering on layouts!
If you join in with us this month at The Studio, you could be in with a chance to be our guest designer for a month!

Thanks for stopping by, back soon! xx

Welcome to the next step of The Studio, Lift Chain blog hop! You should  have come here from The Studio's blog

I love Amanda's layout so I found it really inspiring. I didn't go too far off it, there is lots of great details in her layout that I had to include in mine, like the doodling and stitching. I really love the finished result! The feel to the layout went perfectly with a photo from my cousins wedding.

We would love you to lift any of the layouts along the way, please link up your creations at the side bar of The Studio blog for a chance to win a great prize from chipboard company Tando

Please hop on to Chantelle's blog for her lift of my layout.

Baby Blanket and Canvas

There has been two new additions to our family recently, two little boys within 3 1/2 weeks of each other, making me an aunty to 3 boys now!!
So as you can imagine it's been a bit busy with the babies and creating for them too!
Thought it was about time I showed you some of the creations so I will start with a couple of things I made for my sisters baby.

First up is the crocheted baby buggy blanket I made for my sisters baby, we didn't know if it was a boy or girl so went with either colours!

My sister chose the colours and pattern, I loved this stitch, it was quick and easy and looks great!
I started it in February and just finished it a few days before my nephew arrived in the second week of April.

Secondly my sister bought some fun material with dogs all over it for the nursery so I decided to copy it to make a canvas to go on the wall, as the walls are all white so this is what I came up with!
I drew the dogs on card as they are quite big on the material and I needed to fit more on and then I painted their coats on!

Back soon with more! xx

Giant Chair

Sunday's challenge at The Studio was all about stitching, use either hand or machine stitching on your layout. I like hand stitching on my layouts, but it can be a bit time consuming so I don't do it that often. For this layout I hand stitched two big circles in two different coloured threads and them built my layout on top of them.
The photo is of my nephew stood on a giant chair we found!

This month's sponsor is the chipboard company Tando, if you enter either of the the challenges by the end of the month, you could win a lovely prize from them!

Magnificent

Today over on The Studio we have a great challenge that really gets you thinking, create a layout with only 5 things! One of the items has to be chipboard as we are sponsored by the lovely chipboard company Memory Maze. A sheet of patterned paper counts as one so does washi tape etc but you can have your cardstock, pen and stitching for free!
Some of the DT found it really hard but I found this quite easy as I'm more than happy with some patterned paper and a pair of scissors! Here's the layout I came up with:
In the end I only used 4!! Some white paint, a sheet of patterned paper, a chipboard frame and lovely glittery Thickers. I chose some patterned paper that I could cut out some flower designs from to form the embellishments on the page. It's also a nice way to used both sides of a sheet of PP on a layout.
I've been lacking on the blogging front lately as I've had 2 brand new nephews with weeks of each other so they are keeping me busy!
Thanks for looking! xx

Sunday Service

The title of my layout is very apt for today as it's Sunday and there's another challenge up on The Studio challenge blog! We had another sketch to play with today, I found this one a bit of a challenge as it was not my style but it's good to be pushed to do something different so this is what I came up with:
The layout is about when I was staying at my uncles holiday cottage in Devon, the cottage looks out on to a village green and one morning lots of people started gathering, we had no idea why so kept watching and then the vicar and a keyboard player turned up and they had a full church service on the green with hymns too!!
This months sponsor at The Studio is the chipboard company Memory Maze, they are offering a $20 voucher for the winner of the challenges. So if that sounds good to you make sure to join in for a chance to win!

Masks

Sunday's challenge at The Studio was about masks and stencils. I used a stencil for the background of my layout, I used green and blue paint on a sponge and it mixed itself a bit so it turned out quite a nice seaside colour which was nice as my layout is about something that happened on the beach! I also used another stencil to make the chevron shapes along the washi tape.
When we went on our family break away in February, we went to a great beach, it had lots of these balls of empty fish eggs. My sister also found a plank of wood so decided to play what she called 'fish brain cricket' with them!! It had to documented!

We have a great sponsor at The Studio this month which is the online shop Bellaboo so make sure you play along for a chance of winning a voucher!

Got more to show you so I'll be back shortly!

Whats in your pocket?

There's a new challenge up at The Studio today! This time we had a lovely colour pallet for inspiration. I've so busy creating lately that I am feeling a little bit uninspired, but luckily it came easy with this! I enjoyed making it and I'm even pleased with the results!!
When I went to my printer to print a photo to use, I found one of the cartridges was empty and it had to be the only one I didn't have! I did a quick order and waited! While waiting though I found this photo that I tried to scrap ages ago and never finished it, which is not like me! The colours in the photo worked great for the challenge though so it was meant to be!
The photo is of my nephew from a couple of years ago with his hand in his pocket, I had to scrap about when he used to love having things in his pocket and you never knew what's he was going to pull out! It could of been string, stones, elastic bands or anything!
It feels good to of scrapped it and it's now not laying around on my desk anymore!

We are lucky to have Bellaboo, the online scrapbooking store sponsoring us this month at The Studio, if you enter the challenges you could win a £15 voucher to spend there! Go and take a look at the challenge!

More Canvases

Here's another couple of my mixed media canvases that I have made and sold recently.
There's no place like home, this one went off to America, I really like this one so I might have to make another one similar to this!
I stamped the all the flowers and painted them in.

My Rocket canvas went flying off to Slovakia, I had some lovely feedback from this one, the little boy who got it loves it :-)  I like the dark blue background with the bright reflective silver stars and mist.
I'm busy creating more for my shop now, I've just created a ballerina which I'm quite pleased with! So nice to go all pink and girly!
