Scraplifts

At The Studio on 28th September our challenge was to scrap lift one of our follow design team members. It was tough as I love my design teams creations but in the end I picked Cari's Selfie challenge layout. I love Cari's style and especially loved this layout and as it was sadly her last challenge with us so it had to be her! Make sure to go to The Studio to see the rest of design teams lifts, they are great!
This was my take on it:
I used stars instead of triangles that Cari used but still raised some up, I kept the place of the triangles, the ink splatters and I used twine in place of the thread. The photo is of my two smallest nephews playing on the beach together, I love this photo it looks like they are up to mischief!
Your challenge is to scraplift one of our scraplifts, you only have until first thing Sunday so you better get busy if you want to join in!
Thanks for looking xx

Scrappy Blog Tour

Welcome to my little part of the scrappy blog tour that's been happening around blogland. I was kindly nominated by the lovely Kat. Kat is part of my great design team at The Studio, I love her clean and colourful style, do go and check her out.

1.  What am I working on right now?

My nephews scrapbooks. I am creating scrapbooks for them as I did for my first nephew when he was born. But having two nephews just over a year ago with only 3.5 weeks between them, its hard to keep up, they are learning new things everyday! I'm doing one in 8.5 x 11" so it is a bit different from the other, here are a couple of pages from it:

2.  How long does it take me to create a project?

Longer than I would like, I'm a bit of a perfectionist! Though I do like being freer with paints. It must be over an hour. I love the creative process and trying different things out.

3.  What are my favorite things to create with at the moment?

Its got to be white card stock, I do try to use other colours but I love using colour and they always seem to look better on white! The other things has to be paint must of my layouts usually have some paint on them, then there is Twine, and buttons too!

4.  How does my writing/creative process work?
I also take the photo first and see where it will take me!
I think it important to have some journalling on my layouts, for generations to come to read what's going on or where or who we are! I do always get near the end of my layout and then think 'where am I going to put my journalling'?! So I do find it hard sometimes to fit it in but I do!

5.  How do I become inspired and stay inspired?
There's always inspiring things around! The main way for me must be Pinterest and other scrappers blogs but also pictures, adverts and the photo itself may trigger an idea, feel or style to try out.

  6.  What is my signature style?
That's a hard one as I don't think I really have one, I just go with it! My layouts have to have lots of colour in them and I like patterns and paint and clustering embellishments to add detail but also like some white space so I would say colourful with an arty twist! These layouts are some of my favourites so you get an idea but there not always like this!

I would like to nominate

Anastasia, shes other one of my lovely design teamI love her style and I always find her layouts inspiring and I quite often think 'I wish I created that'!

Daphne she is a previous designer from The Studio and I love her bold, colourful style with great detail.

Leanne, I always find Leanne's layouts inspiring, she great at layering and clustering.
I look forward to seeing your answers to these questions next Monday!

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you enjoyed reading my answers! xx

Stamped

I don't know where the time is going lately I've started a course so Ive been busy studing , first assignment in and passed so its going well!
Anyway a few weeks ago the 6th July challenge at The Studio was to use Stamps on your layouts so I painted some card and added a few mixed media details and a few stamps and then used a flower stamp to stamp flowers on to it and cut them out.
I then created a bit of a mixed media background using paint, mist and more stamps and lined up my flowers down the side of the photo. I think I used about 6 different stamps in the end. The design team did a great job with the challenge to so make sure you take a look!
This weeks challenge at The Studio was a bit special as we partnered up with Stuck?! sketches to do a joint challenge we provided a lovely bright colour palette and they provided a lovely sketch for us to use. The design team did a great job again but I didn't manage to make a layout for this one. If you use both parts of the challenge you can link up to both sites and be in for winning both prizes! This month we are sponsored by Washi Tapes you could win £15 worth of tape, how good is that?!
Thanks for looking! xx

Project life Inspired

Remember me?! Thought it was. About time I showed you this layout I made for 8th June challenge at The Studio! Don't know where that time has gone! Anyway the challenge was to create a project life inspired layout without using the pockets.
Luckily I got some Project Life cards to my normal scrapping just before this challenge so I used those for a layout about my Birthday gifts.
I've never made a Project life layout before but I have always been quite interested in them so it was good to try it out!
You still have until 6th July to join in with this challenge at The Studio!
Thanks for stopping by!
Back soon!xx

Sister Selfie

I'm back after a break from blogging, no excuses as I have got things to share!
Todays challenge over at The Studio is all about Selfies as there seems to be quite a craze about them at the moment.
The challenge fits perfectly with a photo from my trip to Spain a few weeks ago, I was getting my sister into taking selfies of us and this was my attempt to show her how its was done! We had a great time trying to take them and I think I've got her hooked!
I went with lovely bright tropical colours to go with the sunny photo, I used some sequin waste as a mask for the pink paint and some yellow mist for the drops around.
Make sure you check out The Studio blog for the rest of the DTs takes as there's lots of inspiration from them.

I'm sure this is the first of any layouts from our brilliant trip to Spain and I'm thinking about making some kind of travel journal from it too, Ill have to have a look and see what I come up with!

Back soon!xx

Numbers

I'm struggling to find the time to blog at the moment its not that I haven't got things to show you!
Anyway must show you this, a week last Sunday at The Studio it was all about numbers as its a year of big Birthdays in my family and three of have fallen in this month, including mine! The challenge happened to fall on my nephews first Birthday so my layout is about the day he was born a year ago.
I used my numbers for his date of birth and weight, its a great challenge for using up those number Thickers that seem to hang around! I love how this layout turned out, it will make a great first page of my nephew scrapbook.
I'm late adding this layout as I was really poorly with such a nasty cold and didn't have a voice for a whole week but thankfully it finally seems to be better now!

As we are talking about numbers, this is the Birthday card I made my nephew on a similar theme to my layout!

And this is the card I made my brother in law, I went a bit paint and ink crazy with a mixed media background!

Got to got now as I'm off to sunny Seville in Spain for 4 days with my sister as a Birthday treat later today, which is very exciting, I must finish packing!!

Snug as a Bug

I'm a bit late posting this one, but its been a busy time as it was my Birthday and I had a lot of celebrating to do!! Anyway there lots to tell so more on that another time!

We went all sketchy again over at The Studio on Sunday as it was time for another sketch challenge! Valerie created another lovely sketch, pop over to The Studio to take a look. I kept quite close to the sketch as the design went well with this photo of my nephew all wrapped up!
I punched out lots of different circle and distressed and inked them to make them stand out. I also distressed and inked the edge of the white background too.
I then added some ink drops and wooden stars to add a bit more interest.
There is lots of inspiration from my design team as always and if you join in with one of our 3 March challenges by 13th April you could be our guest designer!

Thanks for stopping by! xx

Little Mouse

There's a new challenge and a new look over at The Studio today! I thought it was time for a fresh look over there so I've been busy designing graphics! Today challenge was M for March so you can scrap anything starting with M. It just so happened I was starting to scrap this layout and thought hang up it starts with an M so it had to be for this challenge!
This little mouse was a visitor to our garden in the autumn and he didn't mind me getting quote close to him to take a nice photo of him, he was very cute and so tiny!
I went with a messy look layout for the background I used lots of paint, ink and stamps and then I layered bits and pieces around the photo.
If you join in with us at The Studio this month you can be in with a chance to be our guest designer for a month. There are 3 challenges in March so you have extra time, until 13th April to join in.
Back Soon xx

Up Lifting!

Todays challenge at The Studio Challenges was to scraplift yourself. The layout has to be one you made at least a year ago.
I had a hard time deciding which one of my layouts to lift! I went with this one from 2011 in the end.

And this is my scraplift of it!
I went with completely different colours so it would look different to the original and my photos were the other way round too but you can still really see the design from it.
The photos were taken in our local park a couple of weeks ago, it was covered with crocuses and under every tree where was a carpet of them and they were all in full bloom, so pretty!
Go and check all the DTs lifts they are really good to see and you get two layouts for the price of one for inspiration!!

Thanks for looking! Xx

Christmas Journal 2013 - Part 2

Heres the second and final part of my Christmas journal!

I loved making this page, I didn't have a photo of the carols we went to as I forgot my camera so I had to come up with something clever! I drew the people or carol singers and then painted them.
Power cut
The Christmas lights were out and I was looking after !my nephew so I couldn't resist wrapping them around him!
My Christmas makes, I ended up making about 20 of these personalised Santa decorations.
One very proud nephew with his first swimming certificate!
Another Christmas make, I was asked to make Duck from Sarah and Duck the cartoon with no pattern or everything to go by j,ust photos from the internet!
Sunday lunch with family
We went to Bristol cathedral for their carol concert it was amazing so Christmassy with some wonderful singing!
I got to spend Christmas eve and Christmas day with 2 of my nephews which was great! Here's Rowan getting ready for Father Christmas!
Christmas day!
Boxing day or christmas day mark 2 with the other part my family!
I put together quite a few pages here as I came down with a really nasty bug, I was SO ill, I even fainted with it so I didn't move for about 2 weeks, I can't tell you how many films I watched!!
So as you can imagine, my new years eve was spent sat in front of the telly with a glass of water, it was rocking!!!
Sum up page
 Back cover
That's it all finished! Hope you got to the end and enjoyed seeing it! Xx

Blossom

There's a new challenge over at The Studio Challenges today. Its a colour challenge that Stephanie picked for us and the colours just so happen to be some of my favourites! As a little twist we had to create a love layout with them.

Ever since we took my nephew hunting for painted Gromit figures in Bristol I loved them and wanted  to own a little one! I decided I must have this lovely colourful called Blossom, they are quite hard to get hold and I had been waiting to get this one! I found out at the being of December when they were going on sale on the website so I waited for the exact minute they went on to grab myself one as an early Christmas present to myself and I got it! I can't tell how much I love it!
So when I saw this challenge, it had to be a page about Blossom, the colours matched perfectly!

We are sponsored this month at The Studio by AbsoluteSCRAP which is a UK based scrapbooking shop and they have kindly  offered a £12.50 voucher to use in their shop to one lucky winner! Go and check out the challenge and get scrapping!

Back soon, thanks for looking! xx
